A Curated list of Awesome Documentaries

I remember myself as a child waiting every Sunday for the newspaper that my father would buy, which was accompanied by a DVD with a new documentary. I have a huge collection of those DVDs (Do you still remember those plastic disks with a small hole in the middle, that stored data?). Those documentaries were mostly about nature and history, but occasionally were also about science and engineering. I have always loved watching documentaries, because it’s a way to learn new things in a narrative way. It’s actual knowledge or facts encapsulated in a story.

Now that I am a bit older, my taste in documentary genres has changed (although I still enjoy some nature documentaries from time to time). After I recently watched the documentary “The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley” from HBO (listed below) I decided to compile a list of various great documentaries (in my humble opinion) that I believe are worth watching.

Money and Economics

Documentaries about money, economics and some fraudulent business.

Technology

Health, Food and Safety

Society

Fashion Industry

Science

Free documentaries

An official YouTube channel with free documentaries that I totally recommend you to check out is DW Documentary https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW39zufHfsuGgpLviKh297Q

I have also created an “awesome documentaries” list at GitHub here, which is based on the “awesome” GitHub trend (https://github.com/sindresorhus/awesome ) that I totally recommend you to check out, especially if your are working in a tech-related field.
